What is your idea about?
Newcomers in particular find it difficult to get to grips with such a powerful system as TYPO3 at the beginning. Where should I start? What is the essential information for a successful start with the Enterprise CMS?
The TYPO3 documentation is very comprehensive, and much of the information required for a targeted familiarization is already available. But the documentation is somewhat scattered and not really organized in a beginner-friendly way.
What do you want to achieve by the end of Q4 2024?
Long story short: Our aim is to restructure the documentation for the “beginners” target group (Integrators and Developers) so that they can successfully master their first steps with the system in a reasonable amount of time after the installation.
For this purpose, we want to form the two main areas from the available documentation:
- Setting up a site with site package, site settings, data structures, etc.
- Dealing with extensions (external, own)
or restructuring them to make existing information easier to find for beginners.
Our valued employee, Lina Wolf, is team leader of the TYPO3 Documentation Team and would accompany the project with us. Her experience in this area will be very helpful in successfully completing the project.
What is the potential impact of your idea for the overall goal?
Everyone benefits from good documentation. TYPO3 has high entry barriers, but offers incredible possibilities. An easier introduction for newcomers lowers the entry barriers and ensures an early sense of achievement. The Benefits for the TYPO3 project and the community:
- The proportion of newcomers who successfully implement their first projects with TYPO3 with improved documentation will increase.
- The community will grow.
- The reputation of TYPO3 will improve.
