DDEV web-based Add-on Registry

by Randy Fay

What is your idea about?
DDEV’s add-on system has been a huge win, allowing distributed maintainership of many, many add-ons, including ddev-typo3-solr, ddev-cron, and many, many others. However, there are now 24 official add-ons, and more than 80 more unofficial ones, and users are not understanding what they are or how to select from them.

What do you want to achieve by the end of Q4 2024?

Create a web-based DDEV add-on registry so that add-on details and maintainership is easily visible and searchable. The add-on registry is one of the key goals listed in DDEV’s 2024 plan, see DDEV Project 2024 Plans | DDEV

What is the potential impact of your idea for the overall goal?

TYPO3 community members can easily survey the add-on ecosystem, search it, and contribute to it.

Which budget do you need for your idea?
3.000 Euro

Please note: After the start of the voting we can not change the idea description nor the idea outcome. If this idea is selected by the members, it must be archived as described.

As a (soon) author of a ddev add-on this would be a great addition to the ddev ecosystem. Currently it can be quite confusing to find and install the correct add-on.

I love the general idea, but I have a question.

Does this idea target towards a dedicated ddev addons web ui registry or a dedicated one for the TYPO3 community / related additions ?

This is general, for all add-ons. There are currently just over 100 of them, only a very few are specific to TYPO3, but most work with TYPO3.
